Parkside wins OFSAA opener

Parkside high school's senior boys basketball team had no trouble winning their opening game at the Ontario AA championships, with a 25-point victory over Sir Winston Churchill of Thunder Bay.

Quinn Henderson, with 13-points, and Kyle Giedraitis, with 11-points, led the Panthers to a 57-32 win in Windsor Monday afternoon.

The victory means Parkside moves on to play Tuesday morning against the loser of Monday evening's match between eighth seed Montcalm Cougars of London and fourteenth seed Smiths Falls Red Hawks.

Monday afternoon, Parkside ended the first quarter against eighteenth seed Churchill up just 20-15, but the Dundas school stretched that margin in the second quarter to take a 32-21 lead into halftime.

Parkside moved up to a 41-25 lead by the end of the third quarter before winning the final quarter to put the game away.
