Blues Even Series in Grimsby
Kevin Dowling and John Murray each scored twice as the Dundas Blues evened their best-of-seven division final series against Grimsby Peach Kings with a 5-4 win in Grimsby, Friday night.
Blues general manager Steve Aglor said the entire team is listening to head coach Mike Minard and sticking to the systems he's set for them.
"We are taking care of our own end better than we did all season, which in turn creates more scoring chances for us," Aglor said.
Dowling opened the scoring with an unassisted goal early in the first period. Grimsby came back to tie it before the close of the opening frame.
Dowling found the back of the net again - this time on a powerplay assisted by Mike Peters and D.J. McConnell. Grimsby followed that with back-to-back goals to take a one goal lead. Jonathon Cox scored for Dundas late in the period to even it at three goals apiece.
Grimsby took the lead back early in the third period. Then Murray scored his first goal to tie it at four, assisted by Andrew Kolodzey and Robert Bentivegna. Murray followed seven minutes later with the winner, assisted by Bentivegna.
Overall, Dundas was one for four on the powerplay while Grimsby was one for five. Grimsby had 35 shots on net, and Dundas had 33.
Dundas goalie Shawn Krzykala had 31 saves for the win.
The East Championship continues in Grimsby Sunday night, then moves back to Dundas for game four on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Game five is scheduled for Grimsby on March 12, with Game six, if necessary, on March 12.
