McCoys advance to semi-final
A tie was enough to earn Dundas Real McCoys a bye into the semi-finals of the 2010 Allan Cup national amateur hockey championship, Wednesday afternoon.
Dundas came from behind to even Powell River Regals 4-4 in regulation. After one five-minute overtime period, the match remained deadlocked earning Dundas their third point in two games to lead their division.
The first place finish after the round robin advances Dundas to the semi-final - one win away from a berth in the championship game.
Dan Pitre scored two goals - including Dundas' first goal and final, game tying, goal. Ryan Kuwabura and Justin Davis added Dundas' other two goals.
Real McCoys assists went to Davis, Mike Kennedy, Jerry Galway, David Russell and Steve Hurst.
Dundas had to scramble back several times after Power River took leads throughout the game, but neither team was able to take control.
Dundas goalie Dan Turple made 30 saves to keep the McCoys in the game.
Powell River will face South East Prairie Thunder, with the winner of that game moving on to face Dundas for a spot in the Allan Cup championship final.
