Bentley knocks off McCoys

The Dundas Real McCoys couldn't outlast defending Allan Cup champion Bentley Generals as the Alberta team topped Dundas 4-2 Friday to advance to its third straight appearance in the national amateur hockey championship final game.

In the evenly matched opening period, Bentley found the net first with a powerplay goal 7 minutes into play. Dundas came right back with its own powerplay goal from Mark Jooris, assisted by Rob DeCiantis and Ryan Kuwabara less than two minutes later.

Dundas scored the only goal of the second period. Jerry Galway's even strength marker, assisted by Ryan Christie, gave Dundas a 2-1 lead.

In net, Dundas goalie Dan Turple stopped all 16 shots Bentley fired at him to help Dundas hold the one goal lead.

But Bentley entered the final frame focused on a comeback. They fired 18 shots at Turple. A powerplay goal four minutes into the period tied the game up again, then Bentley moved head 13 minutes later.

When Dundas pulled Turple from the net for an extra skater in the final minute, Bentley iced the win with an empty net goal.
